At MGH Associates event planning is carefully scheduled and executed to a plan after taking into consideration the client’s needs and requirements of the event, compilation of data through research, the budget, expected revenue generation from the event, audience base, planning and scheduling of media buying and placement for the event; which results in a careful synchronization of planned steps from the planning stage to production stage of the event to achieve the final goal.

Detailed below are some of the major and salient events undertaken by MGH Associates (Private) Limited since its incorporation in 2005.

SRI DALADA MALIGAWA ESALA PERAHERA

MGH has been associated with the Sri Dalada Maligawa Esala Perahera from 2006 to present. The grandest of pageants, the sacred tooth relic is the most important treasure of the Buddhists next to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Organizing an event of such magnitude requires careful planning and execution to ensure the smooth process of the event which attracts attention worldwide.

MGH was incharge of the event management from 2006-2008 and successfully planned the perahera event with the organizing committee in relation to the requisite protocol to be afforded to dignitaries seating arrangements, lighting requirements, shed arrangements, PA and sound arrangements, video production of the event. In addition MGH coordinated with all local FM Stations at that time in the set up of a temporary FM Channel named “Dalada Tharanga”, wherein each of the local FM Stations would be given the broadcasting rights of the transmission of the station for 10 days. MGH continues to be an integral part of event management aspect of the pageant to date in collaboration with other parties to the perahera.

RUHUNU MAHA KATARAGAMA DEVALAYA PERAHERA

MGH has been the event organizer of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya Perahera since 2005. This event which is held annually in July/ August is one of the major cultural events in the Sri Lankan calendar which draws a large crowd from all corners of the country as well as from abroad.

The event requirements are carefully noted at the discussion stage with the committee, budget for the event drawn up, research done and expertise gathered in relation to the annual theme from erudite scholars on the subject, planning and preparing the schedule of media buying and selling, finding sponsorships for the event, acting as facilitator for providing basic amenities such as security lighting, providing food and accommodation for the dance troupes and other ancillary groups participating in the Perahera. The dedicated commitment of MGH Associates is showcased in the final product − the grand perahera season of Kataragama and has been commended by the organizing committee.

PRESIDENTIAL SECRETARIAT AVURUDU EVENTS – 2008 AND 2009

MGH was the event manager for the Presidential Secretariat Avurudu Event held for the years 2008 and 2009. This daylong event held in April of the respective years, required precision coordination with the Presidential Secretariat in relation to logistics which included lighting arrangements, PA and sound arrangements, entrance pandols, sheds, carnival items, providing artistes for activities such as face painting, comedians. The Avurudu Event had many and diverse events which required careful planning and allocation of the area locations for each event in a systematic manner for participant and audience convenience. The events were successfully managed by MGH.


KAVITHA TALENT SHOW AND EXHIBITION – 2013

MGH was appointed as the Official Event Manager of “Kavitha Talent Show & Exhibition - 2013” which was a program created by the Ministry of Higher Education to develop the various artistic talents of the clever youth attached to the Universities and Advanced Technological Institutes which come under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education. The youth are afforded an opportunity wherein they can showcase their talents. The final event of the program was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre from 21st February to 23rd February 2013.

MGH has successfully covered the event areas by supplying the Main Stage, Orchestra Set, Judge Panel Seating Arrangements, Orchestra Sounds, PA Sounds, Lightings, LED wall, Art Framing and Photo Mounting as well as by designing and printing of Invitation cards, Certificates, Passes, Trophy Tags, Art & Photo Description Tags and Backdrop. MGH showcased their professional event management capabilities via two live TV programs aired on “Channel Eye - SLRC” (Tamil show) and “TV Derana” (Sinhala show) in relation to the event.

NETHTHARA LIVE – 2006

This event was organized to raise funds for Sri Lanka Red Cross which featured Sri Lanka’s premier singing duo Bathiya and Santhush at the BMICH. The entire event management part was handled by MGH from planning stage to the production stage which included the printing and sale of tickets, sponsorships, and souvenirs. The expected revenue was Rupees 1 Million; due to the successful planning and execution of the event by MGH the organizers were able to achieve Rs.1.3 Million.

4TH BIANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SRI LANKA ASSOCIATION FOR BUDDHIST STUDIES (SLABS) HELD IN DECEMBER 2010

MGH was the event organizer of this international conference held at the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy (SIBA), Pallekele, Kandy, during 10-12 December 2010 organized by the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. 16 countries participated at the conference to discuss matters under the conference theme “Human Values in Buddhist Perspective”. MGH, in addition to the main event also provided all the necessary travel arrangements and accommodation for the visiting dignitaries for sightseeing tours during their stay in Sri Lanka with the due protocol procedures required for an event of this nature.


2550 SAMBUDDHA JAYANTHI – 2009

MGH was involved in the media and event planning in collaboration with the Sri Dalada Maligawa for the 2550 Sambuddha Jayanthi, wherein displays of the historical places where the sacred tooth relic was kept prior to Dalada Maligawa was colourfully displayed by the cut-outs of the historical places in order of stay: from point of arrival to the country and thereafter at Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa,Yapahuwa, Dambadeniya, Kotte, and Kandy. This event was a two-month road show which commenced from Kandy with the participation of the venerable Maha Sangha chanting pirith and took the route where the sacred tooth relic was kept at various phases in our history. The replica of the Sri Dalada Maligawa also contained a sacred casket containing the relics of the Buddha which was shown for exhibition so that the public would be availed of a chance of offering their homage to the holy relics. This challenging event was successfully managed by MGH during the entire tenure of the event.


TUSKERS CARNIVAL – COLOMBO – 2005

MGH was the event organizer for the first ever tuskers carnival which was organized by the Tame Elephants' Association wherein 50 tame elephants participated at the event. This unique carnival was dedicated solely to elephant games consisting of polo, football, relay, dance, musical chairs with active participation of the elephants. This mammoth task of organizing the event, coordinating with the elephant owners and arranging the logistics was executed successfully by MGH and was a huge hit with the audience.


PLASTIC & RUBBER INSTITUTE OF SRI LANKA (PRI) – THE ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT – 2012

“The Annual Awards Night - 2012” was held at the Hotel Galadari - Grand Ballroom from 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. on 13th July 2012. It was organized by Plastic & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRI).

MGH was associated in the event as a major supplier of the logistical arrangements required for the event.

CRIB GOVERNOR’S TROPHY THE FINANCE WORLD’S VERY OWN ANNUAL CRICKET CHALLENGE – 2012

“Governor’s Trophy” six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament was held with the participation of over 60 teams of Banks and Financial Institutions and was organized by Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB).

It was held at the Colts Cricket Grounds, Colombo 05, on the 30th of June, 2012 from 7.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. MGH handled the total event management which covered logistical arrangements such as organizing food and beverage stalls, kiddies corner, lighting arrangements, PA and sound arrangements, Night award ceremony. The judges for the event were provided by CRIB.

BOC EXHIBITION STALL AT BMICH – 2008

The salient feature of this event was that MGH was able to organize the entire BOC requirements in relation to the stall within a very short period of 03 days which included only 02 working days. Due to commitment and dedication of the staff, the exhibition stall was tastefully done displaying the Bank’s value to the target audience.

RUHUNU MELA – 2007 – HAMBANTOTA

Ruhunu Mela was a live musical show which ran for a week at Hambantota beach targeting the Sinhala and Hindu New Year season. This event was organized by the Urban Development Authority and MGH was appointed as the event manager. Logistical arrangements for carnival items, liquor, entertainment, fireworks display, and coordination of musical bands to play at venue, stage and lighting arrangements, sound arrangements and exhibition stalls for sale items were handled by MGH.


MITHU SAHANA

This one day event was organized by the Sri Lanka Red Cross City Branch and was aimed at providing essentials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) during the humanitarian operation. The event was held on 15th August 2009, at Bloomfield Ground and was a daylong event wherein the public was invited to bring their donations and also to see the “Shanthi Perera Memorial Challenge Trophy” a friendly cricket match between the actors and journalists. It was a family event and taking into consideration the target audience; activities were organized accordingly which included events for adults and children. The total event was managed by MGH and the organizers were able to collect a considerable amount of aid for distribution to the IDPs.
